train to Carroll Street.
Walk west on 1st Place (it will become Summit St). Cross over BQE. Continue down Summit St to Columbia St. Make a left. Jalopy is two blocks down Columbia St.

Subway and Bus

Option 1: trains to Boro Hall. Walk South on Court St to Atlantic Avenue. On Atlantic Ave, take the B61 towards Ikea/Red Hook. Get off on Summit and Columbia Sts. Continue down Columbia St. two blocks to Jalopy.

Option 2: to Jay St/Metrotech. Catch B61 to Ikea/Red Hook on Smith St. between Fulton & Livingston. Follow above directions.

From Manhattan

Take Brooklyn Bridge. Continue down Adams St. Make a right onto Atlantic Ave. At Columbia St. (4th light) make a left. Continue down Columbia to the end (Woodhull St.) Jalopy is 1/2 block past Woodhull St.

BQE From North and West

Take BQE to Atlantic Avenue Exit. Make left at the light (Columbia St). Continue down Columbia to the end (Woodhull St.) Jalopy is 1/2 block past Woodhull St.

BQE from South and East

Take BQE to Hamilton Avenue Exit. Continue straight off exit. The first right after the traffic light is Columbia St. Jalopy is on the right half way down the block.

Private Events at Jalopy Theatre

The Jalopy Theatre is a great venue to host your party, be it a small gathering of friends, a birthday party, wedding or film shoot. Here we present some guidelines to help you plan your event. For further inquiries, please contact us at

Rental Options

The Jalopy Theatre is available for private parties, special events, and film shoots. We require a two-hour minimum rental. Your space rental will include a bartender, a free half hour set-up and half hour exit time, bathroom supplies, and cleaning fee. Please call 718.395.3214, or email for quotes and inquiries. 


If your party goes over time, we will charge you the agreed upon rate. For each additional hour after that, we will add $50 to that rate. 


Our entire space is 55’ X 20’. The first 15’ of the room is our instrument store and concession stand. The main room, which may be curtained off to curb sound and light pollution, is 40’ X 20’. It includes a 12’ formal raised stage with velvet curtains, stage lights, and a sound board. We have 10 black wooden pews and 30 classic wooden chairs that can be removed or arranged as you see fit. We have two 6-foot tables with red tablecloths that can be set up for food, presents, or other uses. We can also arrange to rent any furniture, glassware, or flatware that you may need to accommodate your event. We have a single, unisex bathroom. Our facility is smoke-free and handicap accessible.

There are a few options when it comes to serving beverages. Your beverages must be purchased through us, as required by state law. The Jalopy Theatre serves specialty coffee drinks, teas, sodas, beer and wine. We can provide sangria, mimosas or other wine and sake based cocktails. The Jalopy Tavern next door serves a full bar, but unfortunately drinks cannot be brought into the theatre.

  1. A full open bar, includes our selection of beers (2 kegs, 12 bottles/cans) and wines (3 red, 2 white, 1 prosecco), coffees, Tazo teas and sodas. You are welcome to suggest beers and wines, and we will try to accommodate you. Our rates are the following: $20/person for two hours, $26/person for three hours, $30/person for four hours, and $32/person for five hours.
  2. You may elect to purchase one or two kegs ($300-400/keg) and wine by the 1/2 case or case ($120-160 per 1/2 case, $215-300 per case). Then, there would be a $3/guest charge for all coffee/tea/soda.
  3. You may also elect to keep an accurate tally of drinks consumed at the bar to be added your invoice at the end of your party. 
  4. Finally, you may elect to have a cash bar where guests can purchase their own beverages.


We can definitely accommodate if you would like to hire musicians to play live during your event or you would like to play music from a laptop, ipod, or records. There is a flat fee of $100 for the evening to provide a sound technician to take care of all your needs. This fee also includes access to our stage and backline, which includes PA, amps, mics, drums, piano, and upright bass.


We request a 50% deposit of the rental fee to secure the date. In the case of cancellation, the deposit will be refunded at 50% up to two months before the event. After that, the deposit is non-refundable.


Whichever option you chose, we will add an 18% gratuity on the beverage charge to cover our bartending staff.
